        AUSTRALIAN OWNED AND RUN

Inspired by the Norman, or nasal helmet of the middle ages, these full-size helmets are individually handcrafted just like they would have been in medieval times. Made from 18 gauge steel and featuring the distinctive conical shape, chainmail aventail, and leather chin strap, and inner suspension liner, each helmet is hand beaten, etched, and riveted to a high-quality finish. These pieces can be worn as historical costumes for theatre, re-enactment, LARP, or whatever reason you want! For display, each helmet comes with a solid wood stand.

Characterized by a nose-guard, or ‘nasal’, these so-named helmets included a metal strip that extended from the skull or brow band down over the nose. Our model has an attached aventail, or email as they’re also known. Some versions lacked this and would have instead been worn over a chainmail coif, which protected the lower parts of the head, throat, and neck. The coif could be a separate armor item or an extension of the chain mail coat itself.
